Mommy Wars on Montel, Tue. May 1st

As some of you may know, I started on the road to recovery of getting organized when I became a new mom and was totally overwhelmed. Slowly, after reading and learning different organizing tips and methods, I tried some of the suggestions and figured out which ones worked for me and which ones didn't.

As a mom, that's what we're constantly doing in all areas of our life; trying to figure out what will work for us and what doesn't. One size doesn't fit all when it comes down to how we choose to raise our children, pursue our life purpose, earn a living, and spend our free time.

Through messages in the media, society expectations, and peer pressure from other moms, many times, we feel the stress and pressure of "conforming" and doing the "right" thing, even if we're not 100% sure about it or something about it doesn't "feel" right.

That's our intuition talking. And as moms, I think we need to give ourselves more credit to trust our own intuition. Take the time to really listen to your own inner voice talking.

Many times, we're bombarded by all types of noise and distractions and loud messages of the way things "should" be in the way we raise our children. What I'd like to suggest is to try to listen objectively, try to figure out what the message is, without all the emotions swirling around it.

Try to put yourself in the position of the person who is saying the message and see it from their point of view. Try not to be influenced by how loud the message is, or how flashy or how expensive the budget was to produce the message. Be open to learning about different opinions.

Then, after hearing the different viewpoints, go with your instincts. What does your intuition, or your gut, say about the topic now?

That was my experience when I was invited recently to the taping of the Montel Williams show about "Mommy Wars", which will air on Tuesday, May 1st. (I had been previously invited to another Montel Show in March as one of 10 people backstage in the Green Room to view the movie The Secret for the first time. This time, the producer called me back to ask if I would like to be a part of this special studio audience to voice our opinions about various controversial topics about being a mom). You'll see me in a red jacket, in the middle of the audience, sharing my opinion with Montel about organic baby food.

The energy level in that audience filled with all women (a first for Montel!) was unbelievable! In the beginning, it was hard NOT to over-react when another mom made a comment that was completely against what we believe in. But, in the end, we were reminded not to judge one another as moms, but to support, encourage and raise each other up in our common goal of being a good mother to our children.

If you can, tune in and watch the Montel show for some heated debates about topics that only a mom can understand. Listen to the different opinions, then let your intuition guide you.

Take the time to sort through the "mind" clutter, to help think your way clearly on some tough matters.

I look forward to helping you Sort Things Out, one step at a time!
